After graduating with a First Class Honors in Biomedical Science from Newcastle University, Harriett was accepted onto the Scientist Training Programme (STP), a national 3-year program that combines work-based and a Masters’s degree in the field of gastrointestinal physiology.
Harriett completed training at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, where she gained experience in oesophageal manometry and 24-hour pH-impedance studies where she involved in research into behavioural gastrointestinal conditions, alongside setting up an upper GI biofeedback service for the management of patients with behavioral disorders including rumination syndrome and supragastric belching.
